Good Turn for America Web Site |

| It is “Scouting for Food” time, and that means that it is also “Good
Turn for America” time. What is Good Turn for America? It is a multi-year
initiative that addresses hunger, housing, and health issues in our
communities. Boy Scouts has teamed up with other service organizations to
perform service in our communities. Boy Scouts of America maintains a web
site for recording all projects and hours at www.goodturnforamerica.org.
What do I have to do? All units should go the web site and register their unit. Then record the information asked to register your service project. All Scouts and Scouters can earn the Good Turn for America patch by participating in a service project, such as Scouting for Food. How do I register my unit? You will need an ID number to register your unit the first time you visit the web site. You can get that ID number from Lou Noon (ask Brian Shiflett for Lou's contact information). You will be asked to establish a user profile. There should only be one person from each unit who is responsible for entering data. What type of information is needed to register service hours for Scouting for Food? You will need to record the number of registered Scouts, non-registered youth, registered adult Scouters, and non-registered adults who participate in your project. You will need to approximate how many total hours were spent by all of those individuals. You will need to approximate how many food items were collected. Goose Creek District has historically been one of the most productive areas in Scouting for Food, so we should be able to show that by how many hours and food items we have recorded at Good Turn for America.
